// Not the confident type? // It’s okay. I feel the same. - As an #Introvert I struggle with simply being around people. Call it inferiority complex or the lack of self-confidence. - I worry about not being able to carry conversations, or having anything intelligent to say. - My natural reaction to a crowd is to retreat into a corner, hide, & hope nobody sees me. Because then, I won’t have to worry about coming across as an utterly boring person. - Over the years, I’ve learnt that #CONFIDENCE is a funny thing. - The lack of confidence is actually just an exaggerated fear of rejection; the desire for acceptance. - Nobody can make us feel inferior without our consent. - We are as beautiful or as ugly as we believe ourself to be. It is NOT a power anyone can have over us. - Easier said than done, but when I decided to stop living a life based on the need for constant validation & acceptance, my life began to change. - I learnt to build confidence by putting extra effort into the things that scare me; And basically just stop thinking about myself & start putting others first. - I learnt to be genuinely interested in getting to know the people around me, understanding their interests, & hearing their stories. - It still takes conscious effort, but I’ve learnt to be more comfortable with being uncomfortable. - So if you’re like me, I want you to know that you’re not alone, & that it’s okay to feel inadequate. - Let it fuel you to overcome rather than succumb.
